My name is Soroosh Mortezapoor. I have always been obsessed with science, in combination with skills, techniques, methods, and processes that all together form something we know as technology. I believe that the long journey to a perfect world should be traversed with small, simple, yet thoughtfully directed steps that each makes the world a better place for everyone to live. In all the years with Nativy Translations, as a part of its software development team, and as its CTO, I gained so many outstanding pieces of experience together with a wonderful team of talented young people. We took some steps and made the world a better place by satisfying the needs of our customers to the best of our abilities and making them and their clients happy.
I come from Iran and have been living in Vienna, Austria, since 2012. I studied Software Engineering in Tehran and received my Bachelor of Eng. degree from Iran University of Science and Technology. Then I immigrated to Europe and studied Computer Science at the University of Bern, Switzerland, for one semester, when I realized that I was interested in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics more than general Computer Science. That’s why I left Switzerland and moved to Austria to study at Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) in “Computational Intelligence”, and later known as “Logic and Computations”. I received my Dipl.-Ing. degree, which is equivalent to Master of Science in German-speaking countries. Since 2013 and besides studying, I joined a fantastic startup, Nativy Translations. Nativy is a professional human translation provider, with thousands of native translators from different corners of our world. Its clients are ranging from great well-known corporates to private persons, who can enjoy very high-quality translations in over 500 different language combinations.
After such an exciting ride, I felt that it was time for me to go back to school. That’s why I am currently back at the TU Wien, doing research as a Ph.D. candidate at the Institute of Visual Computing and Human-Centered Technology. My focus on “Robotics; Large-Scale Haptic Interactions in Virtual Reality, Based on a Mobile Robotic Platform” and I am lucky to be a member of the prestigious project “SFB Advanced Computational Design” of The Center for Geometry and Computational Design.
The project “SFB Advanced Computational Design” brings a large number of scientists together from various research groups from Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien), Graz University of Technology (TU Graz), and the University of Innsbruck. The main questions it is trying to answer is how to advance design tools and processes through multi- and interdisciplinary basic research in the areas of digital architecture, integrated building design, computer graphics and virtual reality, discrete and applied geometry, and computational mechanics.
My interests are:
- Virtual and Augmented Reality
- AI in Robotics
